What is Orthodontic Treatment?

Orthodontics is a method used to control, guide, and adjust the development and growth of the dental and facial structures in order to treat maxillofacial conditions and malocclusions, improve chewing function and facial aesthetics, and help patients feel more confident in social interactions.

Cases That Require Orthodontic Treatment

Deep Bite
A deep bite occurs when the upper front teeth excessively overlap the lower front teeth. Most people have some degree of bite overlap, but in severe cases, it can cause functional and aesthetic concerns.
Under Bite
A underbite occurs when the lower front teeth protrude beyond the upper front teeth when the patient clenches their jaws. In many cases, this condition is caused by excessive forward growth of the lower jawbone.
Cross Bite
When you bite down, some of your upper molars may fit inside your lower molars — instead of outside as usual — and the dentist will refer to this as a crossbite.
Open Bite
If your upper and lower jaws don't meet when you close your mouth, the dentist will refer to this as an open bite.
Diastema
When you have a gap between two or more teeth, dentists refer to this condition as spacing or diastema.
Dental crowding
When your jaw doesn't have enough space for the teeth to align properly, they may become crowded, overlap, or rotate—sometimes being pushed forward or backward.

Clear aligner orthodontic treatment offers numerous outstanding benefits. With its high level of aesthetics, clear aligners help you stay confident throughout the treatment process without worrying about appearance. Notably, the ability to easily remove the aligners while eating or cleaning allows for better oral hygiene, reducing the risk of cavities and gum disease. Moreover, patients can preview their treatment results through 3D simulations, providing reassurance and building greater trust in the dental team.

With its unique 3D technology, invisalign creates aligners that fit perfectly to each tooth, ensuring effective tooth movement while maintaining comfort throughout the treatment process. The aligners are removable, allowing for easy eating and cleaning, offering a modern, aesthetic orthodontic experience that is almost discomfort-free. The treatment requires 20-22 hours per day for 12-24 months

Combining the standards set by the Ministry of Health and global knowledge of sterilization practices in surgery, the sterilization protocol at Herident is a result of years of research and personal experience by Dr. Dang Trieu Hung, MD, PhD. to ensure that the dental environment remains clean, safe, and free from cross-contamination. The protocol is built around three key highlights:

  • Closed-loop process: one-way flow from used to clean instruments
  • Dividing the entire sterilization process into 4 distinct zones; each staff member is thoroughly trained to follow the 8-step sterilization process meticulously, as required by regulations. We place a strong emphasis on checking the expiration date and monitoring the storage temperature of each instrument set.
  • Modern equipment, regularly inspected and maintained.

We understand that safety is the top concern when choosing a healthcare solution. Herident’s 25-year journey of empathy and understanding every customer’s concern has been the foundation of our dedicated service and steady growth to this day.

Frequently Asked Questions About Braces

In the first few days after getting braces, you may experience soreness or mild discomfort as your teeth begin to shift. However, this sensation usually subsides within a few days and can be managed with pain relievers. After each adjustment, you might also feel some temporary discomfort.

The duration of braces treatment typically ranges from 1 to 3 years, depending on the severity of dental misalignment and the type of braces you choose. Your dentist will examine your teeth and recommend a treatment plan tailored to your specific case.

There are various types of braces, including metal braces, ceramic braces, clear aligners (such as Invisalign and Leetray), and self-ligating braces. Each type has its own advantages in terms of aesthetics, effectiveness, and cost, depending on your needs and circumstances.

Clear aligners do not affect your ability to chew. However, with traditional braces in the initial stages, you should avoid hard, chewy, or sticky foods such as hard candies, chewing gum, or foods that are too hot or too cold. These foods can damage the brackets or cause discomfort to your teeth. It is recommended to choose soft, easy-to-chew foods during the early stages.

After removing your braces, you will be instructed to wear a retainer to keep your teeth from shifting back to their original position. Wearing the retainer as directed by your dentist is crucial to ensure the long-term stability of your orthodontic results.
